Seeking Input for the Kansas Digital Government Summit Panel

Sara Sack from AT for Kansans has been invited to join a panel at the Kansas Digital Government Summit on August 22, 2024. She’s seeking insights from colleagues on key points to emphasize regarding Assistive Technology Act Programs. If you were in her position, what would you highlight?

Please share your thoughts and recommendations with Sara at ssack@ku.edu.

Key Questions:

  1. Challenges & Opportunities: What unique challenges and opportunities exist in ensuring accessibility for persons with disabilities and digitally underserved communities?
  2. Sustaining Accessibility: What’s one piece of advice on meeting and/or sustaining digital accessibility standards?
  3. ADA Changes: How is the new ADA rule different from previous regulations, and what has remained the same?
  4. Roles in Accessibility: How do different job roles contribute to technology accessibility? While it’s clear for developers and testers, what about procurement officers, leadership, content creators, or others?
  5. AI & Accessibility: AI is a hot topic at this summit and beyond. How is AI impacting accessibility, both positively and negatively, for those who rely on it?
  6. Promoting Digital Literacy: How can local governments effectively promote digital literacy and accessibility?
  7. Future Technologies: How do we ensure that new technologies are accessible to people with disabilities?

Your input will be invaluable to Sara as she prepares for this important discussion.
