Building a National Public Awareness Strategy for AT Programs

Too often, AT Act Programs hear, "I just never knew you existed." How do we change that narrative? This discussion thread serves as an extension of our Leadership Symposium workshop, A National Public Awareness Strategy: "I Just Never Knew Your Program Existed."

Use this space to:

  • Share key takeaways from the workshop
  • Drop resources, ideas, or strategies that have worked in your state/territory
  • Connect with colleagues to collaborate on public awareness efforts

What are the biggest challenges you face in increasing visibility? What strategies have helped your program break through and reach the right audiences? Let’s continue the conversation!

This is a little off-topic, but do we know an approximate "AT Awareness Day" date? We are just starting to work on our quarterly newsletter and would like to put information in there about it.

Whenever there is an "allied profession" national conference in a state (like ASHA, OTs, PTs, Aging), ATAP/AT3/That state's AT program could have a booth. By chance LATAN/TTAP had a booth at ASHA in New Orleans because our 3D printer vendor had to cancel at the last minute and gave us his spot. We STILL get calls from that- and it was a few years ago. Possibly have AT programs submit a presentation at these conferences. I do realize the vendor costs at these conf can be high but maybe the state program (and/or neighboring states) could split it with AT3.
