Caption Glasses

Hi, Just wanted to share that WisTech now has three different caption glasses in our program for demo. I had the change to show all of them to a group of HS students last week and also a working adult who needs access at work. Here is what I have and happy to share additional observations:

  • Xander: $5K, no internet required, heavy, excellent caption quality even in noise. I have had VR fund these. No subscription or app needed. Very high quality and better for a larger person versus a smaller person due to size and weight.
  • Hearview: Knock off of what appears to be a Temu product with significant markup. Only displays captions on one lens so I have to close an eye myself to read. Requires an app. Very short battery life and no battery shelf life when off.
  • Captify: Newer to market. I have the Captify Pro and trial subscription. Requires the internet and an app. Subscription for additional features. Touchpad on the glasses is too sensitive but they are working on updates to the functions that this touch area performs. For me, I barely touched it and the glasses changed to Chinese :( They are removing the language function and it will only be available through the app and not on the glasses themselves. Captions are in both eyes and higher on the lens which allows more eye contact with the communication partner. The app provides a visual translation at the same time which is saved. The app will also provide a summary of each conversation (I believe this is a subscription feature, not a regular one). Light and smaller than Xander.
