Olmstead 25th Anniversary
The 25th anniversary of the Olmstead v. L.C. Supreme Court decision will be celebrated this month as one of the most important rulings ever to allow individuals with disabilities to receive services in integrated settings. On June 22, 1999, the Supreme Court ruled in Olmstead v. L.C. that unjustified segregation of people with disabilities is an unlawful discrimination under Title II of the Americans with Disability Act.
Assistive technology has been an essential service in allowing choice for persons with disabilities and helping maintain or improve independence in their communities. Does your AT Program or any of your state or territory agencies plan on any activities, social media recognitions, etc. to highlight Olmstead and assistive technology?

Minnesota has a lot in the works for the Olmstead anniversary. Regarding assistive technology, we have a website called Minnesota's Guide to Assistive Technology. This site was a cross-agency collaboration that was developed because of Olmstead legislation!
